MD (MBBS) Programme at David Tvildiani Medical University

DTMU awards the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, which is recognised internationally as equivalent to MBBS. The programme runs for six years, is taught entirely in English, and is structured around the United States Medical Licensing Examination so that students build toward global licensing from their first year.
Programme structure
The six year MD is delivered in three stages:
- Basic Medical Sciences, about 2.5 years
- Clinical Sciences, about 2.5 years
- Clinical internship and clerkship, the final year
Two MD pathways
DTMU offers a system oriented MD programme and a newer MD e-PBL (electronic problem based learning) programme developed within an ERASMUS+ project and recognised on the European Quality Assurance Register. The e-PBL track uses virtual patients and problem based learning to build clinical reasoning early.
USMLE from day one
The curriculum follows USMLE requirements, and the university offers USMLE preparation support. This is the same foundation that has helped DTMU graduates clear the USMLE and go on to residency and practice in the United States and Europe. See Recognition and Accreditation →
Clinical training
Students train at affiliated teaching hospitals and clinical bases in Georgia, with hands on exposure during the clinical years and a full internship in the final year.
Language
Teaching, assessment, and materials are in English. No IELTS or TOEFL is required, although a working command of English is expected. Students also pick up basic Georgian for patient interaction during hospital postings.
