To practise medicine in India after MBBS in Georgia, you must clear India's licensing exam. For years this was the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), and it is being replaced by the National Exit Test (NExT). Here is what Indian students need to know.
Who is eligible
You are eligible to sit the FMGE or NExT if you qualified NEET before going abroad, and your university and programme met the NMC's FMGLR 2021 rules, including the 54 month course and 12 month internship. NMC Approved Medical Universities in Georgia 2026 →

How a USMLE based course helps
A curriculum built around the USMLE, like the one at David Tvildiani Medical University, drills the core sciences and clinical reasoning that licensing exams test, which supports FMGE and NExT preparation as well as US and UK pathways. MD (MBBS) Programme →
The move from FMGE to NExT
NExT is set to become the single licensing and postgraduate entrance exam for both Indian and foreign medical graduates. The licensing pathway stays the same in principle: complete the full degree including internship, return to India, clear the exam, register with the NMC, and practise.
